Lord of the Flies art project
Critical design thinking is the way we think about things. It also governs how well we design things. This was best shown in our Lord of The Flies Art Project. What we had to do was read the book Lord of The Flies and then create an art piece for the Crocker Art Museum. We had to use large amounts symbolism in the art piece. We also had to include said symbolism in an intelligent and non-forceful way. We had to include certain items from the book as well that had to do with symbolism. I did this by including items like the conch order and peace, the beast, chaos and decay. Using such things I created a piece of art for the project.
Content literacy was also a very important part of the project. We had to understand the book and its symbolism to do this project. This book, Lord of The Flies, is notorious for its symbolism so this was not an easy task. We had a reading packet in which we wrote down all the symbolic devices and their meaning, this was one of the steps to finishing the project. After that we would make our drafts in which we would have to explain our art with the symbolism attached. Latter our art would be finalized and we would have to explain why we chose the symbolism we chose, so we had to understand. The content literacy was an essential part of the project and very much the backbone. So it does need to be noted as an important part. That is why Content literacy is important.

Sky Scraper Project
In this project we learned about area volume and radial symmetry. In this project we were tasked with the job of creating a 1/1000Th scale model of a building. The building had to be entirely original in design and would be made of foam core board. Radial symmetry is a repeating pattern that occurs in a circular manner. Our project had to have a radial symmetry of 70 degrees or greater, 5 or more sides. The building had to have at least 3 different shapes making up each layer, and at least 3 different layers that tapper vertically. The reason we are doing this is to find a few good options for the 2013 Evolo skyscraper competition, the winners are chosen by our principle and will hopefully be featured in the competition. This project required critical design thinking, mostly because we had to design a building from scratch. The problem with designing a building from the ground up is that there is little to go off of. So that is why critical design thinking was important.
Zamora project
In the beginning of the project i already had a firm understanding of lines and angles. i had a basic understanding of how parallel, perpendicular, and transversal lines worked. I also knew about the basic kinds of angles such as right, obtuse, and acute. We were taught about parallel and perpendicular lines. There were the occasional transversal line thrown it and not to mention the different kinds of angles. The normal suspects of angles were there acute, obtuse, supplementary, complementary, interior and exterior alternative and consecutive angles, and the occasional vertical angles as well. I felt that i was engaged in this project, it spoke to me. The process was fluid and comprehensible, there were few times i did not know what i was doing. as for myself I had perfect attendance and finished all deliverables on time so I felt I did good on this project. This project was a test of my critical design thinking. As the first project we had in Geocadd we had little to no idea as what to do. However we were told what to do and we made the street plans for the city of Zamora. We had to make this a viable series of streets and we had to make it look natural so in that respect that is how it fits into critical design.
