Fahrenheit 451 article
In the Fahrenheit 451 article, we were asked to make an article for the magazine teen ink by the opinion editor John Smith. He asked us to do this because the magazine was lacking articles by teenagers on the subject of media control. The article had to be on the topic of the book Fahrenheit 451, the article had to be on the subject of media control. In this project I became a better writer because of the sheer amount of writing we had to do. So naturally this project had a lot to do with written communication and proficiency. Written proficiency is how well we write and convey our message through writing. In this project we had to use various sources to support three ideas surrounding one singular topic on media control. For example if you had to write about Facebook, you had to write about the various aspects of how Facebook affects people. In this project i wrote about 850 words and used all three basic arguments, pathos (trying to relate to the reader) , logos (use of logic to support a claim), and ethos (citing of an expert to make a claim). I feel i became a better writer because of this project because i learned how to form better argument and found out new ways to hook people into an argument. All in all i feel this was a simple but effective project in this class.
Future Culture Project
In the future culture project we were tasked with creating the culture of the future. We had to create said future from finding cultural traits and projecting them into the future in a way that made sense. For example one cultural trait could be amplified while another may be dumbed down. To convey this message we needed to do a lot of writing. In that respect we needed written proficiency. Written proficiency is how well we write, this was important because this project did require a lot of writing. We had to write about ten to fifteen paragraphs about cultural traits and how they evolved over time into the future society of our choosing. These traits had to backed up with evidence as to why they evolved and how, we could not just make everything up. So this project was harder than others. The written proficiency played a big role and got better over time. I would say my written proficiency has improved a lot due to this project.
